Opening the gate in DREADMOOR requires more than starting The Throat's generator. Restore the damaged machinery, get water flowing to both wheels, then return to the Gate Control. After the objective changes to Set Out, board the motorboat and sail through the opened passage to finish the October demo.
This is the final waterway gate at The Throat. Earlier preview footage contains a different gate puzzle, so its interactions should not be substituted for this sequence.
Arrive ready for the machinery work
The main progression sends you toward The Throat after the required boat work. Check your vessel's condition and fuel before setting out. The gate complex involves work on foot as well as travel by boat, so reaching it does not mean you can operate everything from the helm.
Dock at the accessible part of the structure and inspect the generator and gate machinery. Keep the active journal objective in view as you move between stages.
Restore power and inspect the failed gate attempt
The generator needs fuel. A Fuel Can is found in The Throat area; an empty generator does not automatically mean you must sail back to the Trading Post.
Refuel it and carry out the startup interaction. Once power is available, the first attempt to operate the gate reveals that the waterway machinery also needs attention.

The generator objective is an earlier stage than opening the gate.
That failed attempt is a progression cue. Repeatedly pressing the Gate Control without restoring the machinery is not a substitute for the newly displayed repair task.
Finish the separate repairs
Inspect the damaged assemblies around the complex. The repair work involves missing mechanical and electrical components, the wheel buckets and the damaged Water Pump. Parts are spread through the working areas rather than installed from a single master repair panel.
| Stage | What establishes progress |
|---|---|
| Generator | It has fuel and has been started |
| Machinery | The relevant component and pump interactions are completed |
| Water routing | Both wheels receive water and turn |
| Gate control | The gate opens and the departure objective appears |
Use the part names and remaining quantities shown by your own repair interactions. Do not assume an exact recipe or installation order reported for a different demo build applies to this one.

The waterway has physical repairs beyond supplying generator power.
Run both wheels before returning to the control
When physical repairs have been accepted, configure the channels to supply both wheel assemblies. Watch both wheels after making a change. Keeping one moving while starving the other leaves the system unfinished.
The clear handoff is the objective advancing from water flow to the Gate Control. If it still requests machinery repairs, inspect those repair points. If it requests flow, work with the channels rather than repeatedly restarting an already running generator.
Open the passage and set out
Once the two-wheel requirement is complete:
- Return to the main Gate Control.
- Operate it to lower the gate and expose the route.
- Confirm the objective changes to Set Out.
- Return to the motorboat.
- Steer through the opened waterway until the demo reaches its completion screen.

The completion screen is reached after the boat travels beyond the gate.
The control panel does not immediately finish the demo while you stand beside it. You still need to travel through the passage. The newly opened route requires steering, so remain at the helm rather than expecting an automatic transition at the moment the gate moves.
There is no need to repeat the earlier fishing contracts or obtain another engine upgrade after the Set Out objective appears. That objective means the required gate work has been accepted. If the passage is open but you are still in the level, finish the departure by boat.
