To configure water wheel flow for both sides in DREADMOOR, first finish The Throat's machinery repairs, then adjust the water controls until both wheels receive water and turn. One moving wheel is not enough. The objective should advance before you return to the main gate control.
There is no verified universal switch combination here. Follow the channels and wheel movement in your current October demo build rather than copying positions from a different preview puzzle.
Reach the routing stage first
Read the active objective before changing controls. A task that still asks you to restore machinery has not necessarily reached the flow puzzle.
The preceding work includes generator power, separate missing parts and the damaged Water Pump. The pump is repaired in place. Those physical jobs and the water-control task are distinct: adjusting the channels cannot substitute for a part that remains missing or a repair the journal has not accepted.

Physical repairs must be distinguished from the later channel-control stage.
If buckets appear installed but their objective does not advance, stop treating the problem as a routing combination. That symptom needs a separate repair or quest-state check.
Follow water from the channels to the wheels
Approach the controls as connected routes rather than a set of isolated red and green indicators.
- Locate the two wheel assemblies and identify which one is receiving water.
- Follow the visible channel toward the wheel that is not turning.
- Change one water-flow control and observe what moves or redirects.
- Check the other wheel after that change, so a gain on one side does not conceal a loss on the other.
- Continue until both wheels turn and the task advances.

Check the objective as well as individual lights when deciding whether routing has been accepted.
Changing one control at a time makes it possible to see which route each interaction affects. Moving several before checking the wheels makes the result harder to interpret, particularly when you are already supplying one side successfully.
Read the whole system, not a single light
An individual indicator shows the state of one control. It does not, by itself, establish that the complete route supplies both wheels. Use visible water movement, both wheel assemblies and the objective update together.
| Current result | Interpretation |
|---|---|
| One wheel turns and one remains still | The complete two-wheel goal has not been reached |
| Control changes but the journal still asks for repairs | Check the unfinished physical stage |
| Both wheels turn and the journal advances | The normal routing requirement has been accepted |
Move on when the objective advances
Once both wheels are working and the task changes to the Gate Control, the water-routing stage is complete. Do not keep rearranging a working flow while searching for another hidden combination.
If the controls appear unable to complete the objective even though both wheels are turning, record that exact state and the current objective text. It is more useful to distinguish that symptom from an incomplete repair than to assume every failed attempt means your switch order is wrong.
