Do not assume an old DREADMOOR Playtest invitation is still open. The historical test, public demo and main game use separate Steam applications. On the November 2, 2026 snapshot, the old Playtest record is disabled, while the main game is preparing for Early Access on November 9.
If you want to try the game, check the current DREADMOOR Demo listing rather than following a months-old playtest video. Demo availability is controlled by its live Steam listing, and conflicting end-date information prevents a permanent access promise.
Identify the entry you are looking for
| Steam application | App ID | What it represents |
|---|---|---|
| DREADMOOR Playtest | 3808110 | Historical testing application |
| DREADMOOR Demo | 5219790 | Separate public sample |
| DREADMOOR | 3629430 | Main game, planned for November 9 Early Access |
These are not three names for the same installation. A testing invitation does not prove ownership of the paid game, and a visible old Library entry does not prove the test servers or access window remain active.

Why older videos say the playtest is open
DREADMOOR has used several testing phases. One earlier pre-alpha announcement described selecting players beginning January 12. It was a focused, unfinished PC Windows test with English-only language support, an NDA and no progress carry-over.
A separate May open preview ran during a limited May 18–25 window. A creator saying “join the playtest” during that period was describing access at the time of recording, not an invitation that remains valid indefinitely.
The old Playtest application's later metadata also contains September activity. A dated build or invitation record is still historical evidence, rather than a current registration announcement.
Do not use a search engine's capture date as the event date. A page collected in November can describe a January or May test whose conditions have already ended.
The demo is the newer public sample
The demo was announced as available on October 6, with its own remote-settlement questline. It includes exploring nearby islands by boat and on foot, fishing, scavenging, meeting an engineer and working on the boat at the dry dock.
Its language and performance information supersedes the much earlier pre-alpha conditions for that sample. The October announcement lists twelve supported text languages and professional English and Russian voice acting.
That does not mean the old NDA, earlier hardware demands or English-only condition should be copied onto the demo. Each applied to a particular stage, and a pre-alpha FAQ is not a current universal installation guide.
Check the demo page for the actual download or play control available when you visit. If it is absent, do not substitute a third-party mirror or assume an old Playtest access request will unlock the demo.
Returning testers should check their saves
The October 6 announcement specifically warned players not to continue previous playtest saves because of possible unexpected bugs and crashes. It recommended a fresh demo game.
If you choose to reset old data, preserve your existing saves externally first. A new demo start means giving up that old in-game progress, and the announcement should not be interpreted as a promise to transfer it.
The warning also does not establish that deleting saves repairs every later technical problem. It addresses an old-save transition, not a universal display or performance fix.
Where to follow a future access announcement
Use the main Steam game's current announcements to distinguish a new test invitation from a past one. A useful invitation should identify its dates, eligible application and entry procedure.
The announced November 9 Early Access release is the next main-game milestone in the current snapshot. It is a paid release stage, not simply another name for an open test.
For immediate access, start by checking the live Demo entry. For a future test, wait for a current invitation. If neither is available, an old video description cannot make an expired test playable again.
